What to Expect from Your First CoolSculpting® Session

Woman considering CoolSculpting® for the first time

CoolSculpting® is a popular option among our Scottsdale-area patients who are interested in body contouring. It’s a great nonsurgical treatment for sculpting the body and removing unwanted fat. Unfortunately, some new patients may be nervous because they don’t know what to expect from the treatment. But don’t worry–there’s nothing to fear from this FDA-approved procedure.

Every CoolSculpting journey involves the same 3 stages: your consultation, your treatment, and your recovery. We’ll walk step-by-step through the process so you can feel more confident when heading into your CoolSculpting session.

Consultation

If you’re interested in a CoolSculpting session, the first step is to request a one-on-one consultation. You can do this either online or by phone. During this time, you can discuss any CoolSculpting questions or concerns with your provider. They will be happy to answer your questions and thoroughly explain the procedure.

CoolSculpting is a versatile treatment that can work on many different parts of the body. Common treatment areas include:

  • Midsection
  • Flanks
  • Lower back
  • Hips
  • Thighs

Your provider may also recommend other treatments that would pair well with CoolSculpting, such as Cellfina®. Together with your provider, you can create a customized plan to address all your aesthetic needs.

Treatment

Arrive at your treatment around 10 to 15 minutes early, so you can complete any final paperwork if necessary. Afterward, you will be brought into a treatment room and asked to relax on a comfortable reclined seat. Your provider will then place the target fatty tissue area between 2 cooling panels. As the cold air is applied, the fat cells will freeze away, eventually dying off.

A typical CoolSculpting session is around 1 hour long. Many consider it a “lunchtime procedure” as it can easily fit into busy schedules. The treatment is relatively comfortable, so many patients scroll through social media or check their emails while the treatment progresses. Your provider will remain nearby to be sure you’re comfortable throughout the entire process.

Recovery

Patients may experience slight redness or numbness around their treatment area after CoolSculpting. This discomfort will fade within a few days, and over-the-counter medication can relieve your soreness. There is no required downtime after CoolSculpting so patients can return to work or home immediately afterward.

Results aren’t immediately visible after treatment because the body sheds the frozen fat cells over a period of time. CoolSculpting patients can see their contours gradually develop over the course of a few months. Many request a series of follow-up treatments if they’re seeking more dramatic results. Ask your provider if there are any deals for booking your CoolSculpting sessions in bulk.

CoolSculpting is a simple, straightforward process and an excellent choice for those new to nonsurgical procedures. Browse our CoolSculpting before-and-after pictures to see examples of real patient results.
