Case Details
This 42 year-old patient came to see Dr. Olson following two prior rhinoplasty procedures. She was happy with her corrected dorsal hump but noticed a white spot on the tip of her nose which was her cartilage blanching the skin from asymmetric cartilage and thin skin. She was naturally hesitant to undergo the operation again and waited 10 plus years until she decided to consult with Dr. Olson.
Dr. Olson discussed the challenges of revision rhinoplasty, one of the most difficult operations for plastic surgeons. He recommended an open approach going through the prior incision because of better exposure of the nasal tip. He also recommended a cartilage graft from her ear to help support her native nasal cartilage as well as conceal any uneven cartilage from her prior operations.
She healed quickly from her operation only requiring narcotics for 48 hours because her pain was minimal. Her asymmetric cartilage was corrected and she is extremely happy with the outcome.
